Submitting tenders on time with confidence

The ACT Government is committed to fair, transparent, and inclusive procurements that supports suppliers of all sizes. Submitting your tender on time is critical and a cornerstone of probity, fairness, and legal compliance.

Tender closing times are precise. If a tender closes at 2:00pm Canberra Time, that means 2:00:00pm exactly—even a second late is considered late. The Tenders ACT portal closes at that time. We cannot accept a late tender response for open tender processes unless the response was submitted late due to an act or omission by the Territory entity.

To make sure that your tender is not late:

  • use the Tenders ACT portal and check for addenda, including changes to closing time
  • start early and aim to submit at least 24 hours before tender closing time
  • comply with file naming conventions. File names must not exceed 80 characters and cannot contain \ / : ; * ? " < > | ~ ! $ % & ? ’ { } . Files containing even one of these characters will not upload
  • review your submission receipt to make sure all documents are lodged and keep it as proof of lodgement.

If you can’t submit your tender through Tenders ACT, please do not email your tender documentation to us. Emailed tenders cannot be accepted.

If you have experienced a technical error or any other difficulties with submitting a tender response, please contact us by email on TendersACT@act.gov.au or 02 6207 9000 (option 7), noting that we have limited ability to resolve last minute queries before tender closing time.
